After Being Sued by Cigar Maker Swisher, Rapper Must Change Name

We'd never heard of him, but (w)rapper "Mista Swissher Sweet" has agreed to change his name after cigar manufacturer Swisher International filed a suit.

Cigar maker Swisher International filed a trademark infringement lawsuit in federal court last week against one "Jontae Green", the real name of rapper going under the guide of "Mista Swissher Sweet".

The lawsuit brought by Swisher seeks $100,000 from Jontae for damages compensation, together with any profits realized by Jontae.

Jontae said that he didn't do it to irritate the Swisher company, and that he just used the name because it was his brother's choice of cigar, who passed away from cancer a few years ago.

Our Take: Lawsuits suck! Cancer sucks harder! I wonder if Jontae will get loud and start placing the words "brother", "died", "cancer" and "Swisher cigars" in the same sentences to try bully Swisher International into dropping their demand for damages. Assuming of course that he agrees to stop using that name!
