Will Boston ban cigar bars? The Boston Public Health Commission will soon vote on strict smoking restrictions. If the restrictions are approved, they would place a ban on cigar bars and hookah bars, meaning that you will no longer be able to smoke cigars there. the commission apparently gave an initial thumbs-up to the legislation in September and they are scheduled to vote on Thursday.
The ridiculous proposal would enact some of the country's toughest smoking laws. There are currently no bans on cigar or smoking bars in the US.
Our Take: Another piece of meaningless bureaucratic bullshit legislation, mostly intended to irritate people rather than aid anybody. We understand banning smoking in certain public area where non-smokers may frequent. But to ban cigar bars is a moronic decision because people only go to them to enjoy a nice cigar or smoke. There aren't any non-smokers that are being harmed.
We're getting pretty tired of the nanny-state "we'll tell you what you can and can't do" crap that we see coming out of lawmakers! What's next, no smoking in my own home? Why don't they ban cars? Just think of how much toxic fumes are emitted by those every day. Absolutely nothing compared to cigars!
